Proprietor fined for violation of safety rules

Green Island Cement Company, Limited was fined $100,000 at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court today (May 31) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on August 31 last year in Tuen Mun, in which a worker was hit by scattered fragments of a disintegrated draft fan during its test run and subsequently died.
