SJ visits Beijing

     The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, began a three-day visit to Beijing today (May 30).

     During his stay in Beijing, Mr Wong will call on a number of Mainland authorities. These include the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Supreme People's Court, the Ministry of Justice, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the National Development and Reform Commission.

     He will exchange views with relevant officials on legal issues such as the further promotion of Hong Kong's legal and arbitration services in the Mainland, including the development of these services in Qianhai in Shenzhen, and the establishment of the Asia Pacific Regional Office in Hong Kong by the Hague Conference.

     Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong on Friday.
