Traffic arrangements for public procession on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Sunday (May 27) to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island.

(A) Road closure

     The following roads will be closed from 2.15pm:

(1) The u-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road;
(2) Sugar Street;
(3) Jardineˇ¦s Bazaar;
(4) Tang Lung Street; and
(5) A section of Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street.

     The following roads will be closed from 2.45pm:

(1) A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
(2) Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
(3) A section of westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
(4) A section of Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
(5) Kai Chiu Road;
(6) A section of Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
(7) A section of westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
(8) A section of Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
(9) A section of Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
(10) A section of Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
(11) A section of westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road and Queensway will be intermittently closed;
(12) The slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
(13) Rodney Street;
(14) A section of westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden carpark exit and Tamar Street;
(15) The fast lane of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
(16) A section of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
(17) Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive Office and Central Government Offices carpark);
(18) The fast lane of Garden Road flyover; and
(19) A section of southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

(B) Traffic Diversion

     The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 2.15pm:

(1) Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
(2) Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
(3) Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
(4) Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

     The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 2.45pm:

(1) Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted to turn right to westbound Gloucester Road service road if necessary;
(2) Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover if necessary;
(3) Traffic along eastbound Great George Street will be diverted to turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except vehicles heading for southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
(4) Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
(5) Traffic along westbound Irving Street will be diverted to turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
(6) Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be diverted to turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
(7) Traffic along northbound Yun Ping Road will be diverted to turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
(8) Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
(9) Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
(10) Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
(11) Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
(12) Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
(13) Traffic along southbound Stewart Road, southbound Fleming Road and southbound Fenwick Street cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
(14) Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
(15) Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near Harcourt Garden carpark exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
(16) Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
(17) Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
(18) Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive Office and Central Government Offices carpark); and
(19) Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place.

(C) Suspension of public light bus (PLB) and green minibus (GMB) stands

     The PLB stand at Sugar Street and GMB stand at Tang Lung Street will be suspended from 2.15pm until the traffic resumes normal.

(D) Restriction on access to / exit from carparks

     All car parks along westbound Hennessy Road and Rodney Street may be closed at short notice if necessary. Vehicles in carparks along the procession routes may not be permitted to leave the carpark during the road closure period.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above might be towed away without prior notice.

     Members of the public are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion and take heed of instructions of Police at scene.
