Results of Digital Short Video Competition announced

     The Government Youth Portal (Youth.gov.hk) and the Academy of Film, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) today (May 19) held an award presentation ceremony for the Digital Short Video Competition 2012 of the "Youth Inno-Action! HKBU Academy of Film Seeds Project" to recognise students who have produced outstanding digital videos.

     The results of the competition are as follows:

Jury's Award:
"The Story of 1001" (SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School)

Best Drama:
"Double Pop" (Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School)

Best Documentary:
"Treasure Our Lost Feelings" (Sha Tin Methodist College)

Outstanding Documentary:
"How to Keep Holding on?" (Christian Zheng Sheng College)

Best Creativity:
"2012" (Lok Sin Tong Leung Chik Wai Memorial School)

Best Director:
"The Story of 1001" (Wong Winsome Dumalagan, SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School)

Best Script:
"Partners in Crime" (To Kwok-ho, CNEC Christian College)

Best Cinematography:
"One Shot" (Kwok Chun-kong, CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School)

Best Actor:
"Illness and Love in 24 Hours" (Lai King-yau, Hong Kong Red Swastika Society Tai Po Secondary School)
"One Shot" (Chan Tze-fung, CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School)

Most Popular Online Video (Drama):
"The Tale of an Internet Poisoned Youth" (Christian Alliance SW Chan Memorial College)

Most Popular Online Video (Documentary): "Never Give Up" (Christian Alliance SW Chan Memorial College)

     The competition was well-received with a total of 54 entries submitted via school nominations. The videos were of remarkable quality and covered a wide variety of themes and topics. Working as teams, participants made use of their overwhelming creativity, together with their division of work, to produce videos with a maximum duration of 10 minutes each. The winning entries can be viewed at the competition site (www.youth.gov.hk/en/special/innoaction/index.htm) and the video app of Youth.gov.hk (for iOS: itunes.apple.com/us/app/youth-gov-hk/id417003379?mt=8).

     "Youth Inno-Action! HKBU Academy of Film Seeds Project" is co-organised by Youth.gov.hk and the Academy of Film, HKBU, and sponsored by Create Hong Kong. The project commenced in November 2011 with a mission to provide local youth with a platform for exchange and professional training in five areas including directing, cinematography and lighting, sound recording, post-production and scriptwriting. Under this project, 19 sessions of creative seminars and technical workshops were conducted, which attracted the participation of over 100 secondary schools in its first and second stage. The digital video competition is the third stage of the project.

     Create Hong Kong of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region provides funding support only, and does not otherwise take part in the project.
