Public engagement workshops on Environmentally Friendly Linkage System for Kowloon East
********************************************************

The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) is organising two public engagement workshops to solicit public views on the findings of a feasibility study on the Environmentally Friendly Linkage System (EFLS) for Kowloon East.

Following an extensive public engagement exercise between 2004 and 2006 under the Kai Tak Planning Review Study, the Kai Tak Outline Zoning Plan was approved with a land reserve for the proposed elevated rail-based environmentally friendly transport system. In 2009, the CEDD commissioned a study to investigate feasible EFLS network alignments. Taking into account the important role of EFLS played in the Government's new initiative on "Energizing Kowloon East" to enhance inter-district and intra-district connectivity of Kowloon East, the study has come up with an initial proposal to build a 9-kilometre elevated monorail to connect the Kai Tak Development area with Kowloon Bay and Kwun Tong.

The two workshops will be held at Lee Kau Yan Memorial School, 596 Prince Edward Road East, Kowloon, from 2pm to 5pm on May 26 and June 2. Interested parties can complete the enrolment form which can be downloaded from the website www.ktd.gov.hk/efls and return it to the Kai Tak Office of the CEDD on or before May 18 (email address: ktd@cedd.gov.hk; fax: 2301 1277; and postal address: 3/F, Empire Centre, 68 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui).

One hundred seats are available for each workshop and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 3106 2536 during office hours for enquiries on the workshops.
