Transcript of remarks by CS at media session
********************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Stephen Lam, at a media session after attending the New Vision Launch Ceremony organised by the YMCA of Hong Kong this afternoon (May 13):

I think Hong Kong is a progressive community, not stagnated at one particular point in time in our legislature.  Within the Administration we fully respect the fact that there are political parties and individual members of legislature which hold different views on the proposed legislation regarding how vacancy in by-elections should be dealt with. It is very necessary for any society to continue to move ahead. If certain members of Legislative Council have views even of opposing the above proposal, they should also allow the legislature to complete the debate and vote upon the proposal. In terms of government beginning on July 1, we should allow the current term's proposal to be dealt with thoroughly and in a short space of time, so that the next term of government can move on and allow the Hong Kong society to move on.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
