************************************************************

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "The Early Romantics - Duo Recital by Tina Karen Lo (Guitar) and Andrea Zanchetta (Violin)" will be staged in June.

Guitarist Tina Karen Lo and violinist Andrea Zanchetta will perform classics from the early Romantic period, an era in which composers attempted to increase emotional expression in music.

The fascinating programme will include the great violinist Niccolo Paganini's "Romanze in A Minor" and "Sonata No. 1 in A" and guitar master Giuliani's "Grand Sonata, Op. 25", together with the classical pieces of Molino's "Notturno, Op. 37" and Coste's "Consolazione, Romance sans paroles, Op. 25" and "Le Montagnard, Op. 34".

Tina Karen Lo is regarded as the territory's foremost classical guitarist. She graduated from the University of Southern California in music after studying under renowned artists Pepe Romero, Professor James Smith and Tom Gaab. In 1984, she won the second prize in the American String Teachers' Association Guitar Competition. Later on, she furthered her studies in Salzburg in Austria, Germany, Spain and Italy. She has performed solo recitals in the United States, Spain, Hong Kong, the Mainland, Thailand and Macau. She is currently teaching in the faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She has also taught in the US at the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program in California.

Andrea Zanchetta was born in Venice, Italy. Since the age of 15, he has given thousands of concerts, performing as a soloist and a chamber musician in Europe, Australia, China and Japan. He graduated from the State Conservatory of Venice with a high distinction in violin, string quartet and chamber music performance and has won prizes in international competitions for violin and chamber music.
