CE-elect meets the media
************************

The following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Chief Executive-elect (CE-elect), Mr C Y Leung, at the lobby of West Wing, Central Government Offices, tonight (April 30):

Reporter: Are you ruling out a consultation exercise publicly for your cabinet restructuring and the pan-democrats are saying you are too late for the political reform, can you speak about the process?

CE-elect: We are actually following past practices, both this side of 1997 and the other side of 1997. And it's not uncommon for government to rehash and reorganise government bureaus and this is what we are doing. In fact, if you look at the last reorganisation which was the last government a few years ago, they actually started the process also in the first part of May, and this is what we are planning to do. And the last reorganisation, despite the fact that they started at a date that appeared to be quite late, the actual implementation of the reorganisation took place on the first of July. So this is not the first time, it's not uncommon, and the timetable is not uncommon either. Thank you.
