Proprietor fined for violation of safety rule

Sang Hing Civil Contractors Company Limited was fined $60,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court today (April 26) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Lifting Appliances and Lifting Gear) Regulations. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred in Tseung Kwan O on March 29 last year, in which a worker was struck by the moving arm of an excavator while directing dump trucks in a construction wastes sorting area and subsequently died.
