CSSA caseload for March

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in March showed a drop of 461 cases compared to February, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (April 25).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of March stood at 275,383 (see attached table), with a total of 439,216 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.9 per cent to 11,765 cases, while unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.8 per cent to 26,081 cases. Single parent cases also recorded a decrease of 0.2 per cent to 32,579 cases.

     Old age and permanent disability cases remained steady at 154,176 and 18,376 cases respectively.

     Ill-health cases registered an increase of 0.2 per cent to 25,271 cases.
