CHP investigates case of Legionnaires' Disease

     The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (April 24) investigating a case of Legionnaires' Disease involving a 58-year-old man.

     The patient, with good past health, presented with fever and cough since April 14. He sought medical consultation at the Accident and Emergency Department of Pok Oi Hospital on April 20 and was admitted the same day. He is now in a stable condition.

     A urine sample test revealed that the patient was infected with Legionella bacteria.

     The patient had travelled to various locations in Guangdong Province recently. His home contacts were asymptomatic. Investigation is in progress.
