The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Beijing tomorrow (April 24) to meet the Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), Mr Tian Lipu.
Mr So and Mr Tian will discuss ways to strengthen co-operation in the area of intellectual property between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
"The National 12th Five-Year Plan advocates the development of industries where Hong Kong enjoys advantages, including innovation and technology. I look forward to maintaining close contacts with our Mainland counterparts to foster exchanges and co-operation in the area of intellectual property, with a view to promoting the advancement of innovation and technology in Hong Kong and the Mainland," Mr So said.
The Director of Intellectual Property, Mr Peter Cheung, and representatives of the bureau and department will also attend the meeting with SIPO.
Mr So will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night after the meeting finishes.
