CHP investigates case of Legionnaires' Disease

     The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (April 20) investigating a case of Legionnaires' Disease involving a 78-year-old man.
 
     The patient, with chronic illness, presented with fever and cough since April 14. He was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on April 19. His condition is now stable.

     A urine sample test has revealed that the patient was infected with Legionella bacteria.
 
     The patient had no recent travel history. His close contacts were asymptomatic. Investigation is in progress.
