Village representative by-election to be held on Sunday

     A village representative by-election will be held on Sunday (April 22).

     Six Village Representative vacancies are open in the by-election and eight valid nominations were received during the nomination period.

     Three candidates are running for the Indigenous Inhabitant Representative post of San Tau Kok of the Tai Po Rural Committee and polling will be held for the village. The poll will run from noon to 7pm on April 22. Registered electors should bring their identity documents to the designated polling station at the Joint Village Office for Villages in Shuen Wan, Tai Po, New Territories, to cast their votes.
 
     The Home Affairs Department appeals to registered electors of the San Tau Kok Indigenous Inhabitant Representative Election to exercise their right to vote.

     Five candidates were returned uncontested in their villages to become the Indigenous Inhabitant Representatives of Fung Hang and Tsung Pak Long; and Resident Representatives of Kau Wah Keng San Tsuen (also known as Kau Wah San Tsuen), Muk Min Tau and Tsiu Hang, and Kwong Shan Tsuen.

     Arrangements will be made to enable remanded persons and detainees who are registered electors to cast their votes in the by-election.

     Arrangements will be made for electors who are remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies (other than the Correctional Services Department) to cast their votes at the dedicated polling station located at Mei Tin Community Hall, 9 Mei Mun Lane, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, New Territories. The polling hours are from noon to 7pm.

     If necessary, 22 reserved dedicated polling stations set up in penal institutions will be open for voting from 1pm to 4pm for electors under the custody of the Correctional Services Department.
