Independent Review Committee for the Prevention and Handling of Potential Conflicts of Interests invites the public to express views

The following is issued on behalf of the Secretariat of the Independent Review Committee for the Prevention and Handling of Potential Conflicts of Interests:

     The Independent Review Committee for the Prevention and Handling of Potential Conflicts of Interests is inviting the public to express views on the regulatory frameworks and procedures for the prevention and handling of potential conflicts of interests concerning the Chief Executive, Members of the Executive Council and politically appointed officials.  

     Members of the public may submit their views in writing on the matters being reviewed to the Independent Review Committee on or before April 16. They may also express their views at the public forum to be held tomorrow (April 12) starting at 6.30pm at the Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre (19 Suffolk Road, MTR Kowloon Tong Station Exit E). Seats are available for booking during office hours by telephone (8108 8731), or for walk-in through queuing at the venue on the day of the public forum.

     The Independent Review Committee was appointed by the Chief Executive on February 26 to review the existing regulatory frameworks and procedures for the prevention and handling of potential conflicts of interests concerning the Chief Executive, Non-Official Members of the Executive Council, and Officials under the Political Appointment System, including the arrangements for declaration of investments/interests and acceptance of advantages/entertainment/hospitality. In light of the review, the Independent Review Committee will make recommendations on the existing frameworks and procedures, including changes and revisions where appropriate, and submit a report with recommendations to the Chief Executive within three months.
