20 building plans approved in February

     The Buildings Department approved 20 building plans in February, with four on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 13 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, two were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and 10 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 196,003 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2 391 units, and 104,457 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 24 occupation permits, with 10 on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 20,901 square metres, involving 130 units, and 88,052 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in February totalled about $2.9 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 4,113 complaints about unauthorised building works in February, and issued 680 removal orders on unauthorised works.
