Chief Executive-elect's response to procession
**********************************************

The Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, made the following remarks in response to the procession today (April 1):

"As with all of you, I dearly cherish freedom, human rights, democracy and the rule of law, which are the core values of Hong Kong. Hence I respect the right of the public to express divergent views. In addressing the relationship between the Central Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, I will adhere strictly to the principles of 'One Country, Two Systems', 'Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong', and a high degree of autonomy in accordance with the Basic Law (BL).

I appreciate the community's concerns over the election of the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017 and legislating under BL Article 23. I will continue to listen humbly to your views and consider them seriously."
