Traffic arrangements for public event on April 1

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Sunday (April 1) to facilitate a public meeting at Chater Road pedestrian precinct in Central followed by a procession to the Liaison Office of the Central People・s Government in the Hong Kong SAR.

(A) Road closure

     The following roads will be intermittently closed from 3pm onwards:

(1) A section of Pedder Street between Des Voeux Road Central and Queen・s Road Central;
(2) A section of Queen・s Road Central between Pedder Street and Possession Street;
(3) A section of Queen・s Road West between Possession Street and Chiu Kwong Street;
(4) Southbound Chiu Kwong Street will be closed;
(5) Northbound Chiu Kwong Street; and
(6) A section of Des Voeux Road West between Western Street and Water Street.

(B) Traffic Diversion

     Traffic along the following roads will be diverted from 3pm onwards, until the crowd is dispersed and the road closure is lifted:

(1) Traffic along westbound Queen・s Road Central must turn right to northbound Ice House Street;
(2) Traffic along northbound Ice House Street will be prohibited from turning left to Queen・s Road Central;
(3) Traffic along northbound Wyndham Street must turn left to westbound Wellington Street;
(4) Traffic along Des Voeux Road Central will be prohibited from turning left to Queen Victoria Street and Jubilee Street;
(5) Traffic along Queen Street must turn right to Ko Shing Street;
(6) Traffic along eastbound Hollywood Road will be prohibited from turning left to Lok Ku Road;
(7) Traffic along Po Yan Street will be prohibited from turning to New Street;
(8) Traffic along southbound Eastern Street will be prohibited from turning right to Queen・s Road West;
(9) Northbound Centre Street will be prohibited from turning left to Queen・s Road West; and
(10) Southbound Western Street will be prohibited from turning right to Queen・s Road West.

(C) Suspension of bus stops

     All bus stops along the following roads will be suspended from 2.30pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal:

(1) Queen・s Road Central between Garden Road and Possession Street;
(2) Queen・s Road West between Possession Street and Chiu Kwong Street; and
(3) Des Voeux Road West outside Kwan Yick Phase III (including tram stop).

(D) Suspension of taxi stands

     The taxi stand along northbound Pedder Street will be suspended from 2.30pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal.

(E) Suspension of car parks

     To ensure public safety during the procession, all car parks along the following roads may be closed at short notice if necessary:

(1) Queen・s Road Central between Garden Road and Possession Street; and
(2) Queen・s Road West between Possession Street and Chiu Kwong Street.

     Due to road closures, vehicles may not be allowed to enter or exit the car parks along the procession routes until the roads are re-opened.
