Upward adjustment of salary ceiling under Pilot Employment Navigator Programme effective from April 2012
***********************************************************

Starting from April 1, 2012, the salary ceiling for granting cash incentives under the Pilot Employment Navigator Programme (ENP) will be adjusted upward from $6,500 to $7,300 per month. The revised salary ceiling is applicable to eligible ENP participants who commence employment on or after April 1.

A Labour Department spokesman said today (March 30) that the adjustment was made to keep pace with the increase in wage levels in the employment market. The Pilot ENP was launched on December 13, 2010. The programme provides personalised employment consultation services and cash incentives with a view to assisting and encouraging unemployed persons to secure and sustain employment.

Unemployed persons joining the Pilot ENP will be paid a cash incentive if they secure a full-time permanent job offering a monthly salary not exceeding the salary ceiling stipulated by the programme from the vacancies listed with the Labour Department after receiving at least one month's employment consultation, stay in the job and fulfil other requirements of the programme. The cash incentive totals $5,000 if a participant stays in the job for at least three months.

The Pilot ENP is a two-year programme. Unemployed persons interested in enrolling in the programme may approach the Labour Department's Job Centres, call the programme hotline at 2594 7814, or visit the Labour Department's Interactive Employment Service website at www.jobs.gov.hk for more details. Job seekers with disabilities may also approach the branch offices of the Selective Placement Division for details about the programme.
