Appointments to Employees Retraining Board

     The Government announced today (March 26) the appointment of Mr Lawrance Wong Dun-king and Ms Lee Lai-ching to the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) for a term of two years with effect from April 1, 2012.

     Speaking on the new appointments, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, said, "I am confident that the two new members, with their extensive experience in manpower training, will provide valuable advice on the work of ERB."

     "With the staunch support of all members, the Board will continue to provide comprehensive and quality training and retraining services to enhance the competitiveness and employability of our local workforce," he added.

     Mr Cheung also thanked the two outgoing members, Mr Paul Chong Kin-lit and Ms Juan Leung Chung-yan, for their sterling contribution to the Board during their tenure of service.

     The ERB membership list, with effect from April 1, 2012, is as follows:

     The ERB is a statutory body established in 1992 under the Employees Retraining Ordinance (Cap. 423). The composition of its membership, comprising representatives of employers and employees, and persons connected with vocational training and retraining or manpower planning, is specified in the law. It is responsible for providing retraining courses and related placement services under the Manpower Development Scheme.
