Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central District this weekend

     The Transport Department (TD) today (March 21) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central District from tomorrow to Sunday (March 22-25) to facilitate the holding of rugby matches at Hong Kong Stadium.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

* From about 7pm tomorrow (March 22) to 4am on Friday (March 23), and from about 11am to 5pm on Friday, the section of D' Aguilar Street between Wyndham Street and Wellington Street will be closed.

* From about 2pm on Friday (March 23), and from about 7am on Saturday (March 24) and Sunday (March 25), Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively to facilitate the arrival of spectators.

* From about 8.20pm on Friday, from about 7.20pm on Saturday and from about 6.30pm on Sunday, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path, Link Road northbound and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators until crowd dispersed and road closures are lifted.

* From about 5pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to 4am on the following day, D' Aguilar Street and the section of Wellington Street between Wyndham Street and Dˇ¦Aguilar Street will be closed.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Routes 5B, 12M, 37A, 40M, 75, 90 and 97, New World First Bus Routes 13, 23A and 590A, Cross Harbour Routes 601, 680, 690, 914 and 948, Green Mini-Bus Routes 14M, 26 and 30, and Residentsˇ¦ Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* A free shuttle bus service will operate from MTR Admiralty Station to Hong Kong Stadium before the event and from Hong Kong Stadium to Lan Kwai Fong and MTR Admiralty Station after the event. Franchised buses of Cross Harbour Bus Route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok after the event.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

     The TD anticipates that traffic in the vicinity of So Kon Po, Causeway Bay and Central will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
