CSSA caseload for February

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a drop of 187 cases compared to January, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 21).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 275 844 (see attached table), with a total of 439 796 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.4 per cent to 11 990 cases, while unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.9 per cent to 26 294 cases.

     Single parent cases also recorded a decrease of 0.2 per cent to 32 658 cases and permanent disability cases showed a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 18 377 cases.

     Old age and ill-health cases registered increases of 0.1 per cent and 0.3 per cent, to 154 131 and 25 227 cases respectively.
