Anti-drug messages disseminate through creativity and team spirit(with photos)

     A total of 25 teams came from primary and secondary schools demonstrated creativity, imagination as well as team spirit in the Booth Game Design Contest of ˇ§Build a Healthy School Togetherˇ¨ Drug-free Campus Carnival to compete for 10 different awards today (March 18).

     ˇ§Build a Healthy School Togetherˇ¨ is an anti-youth drug abuse education and publicity programme jointly organised by the Hong Kong Police Force and the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan School Council, with the support of Government departments and community organisations.

     The two-year project, launched in February 2011, is one of the Police anti-drug programmes engaging different sectors of the community. It aims at further enriching teachers, parents and students with the knowledge about the evils of drugs, building up healthy and positive values with a view to combating against drug abuse among young people. Some 130 primary and secondary schools participated the project.

     To widely disseminate anti-drug messages, a Drug-free Campus Carnival was held in Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct today. Apart from games booths, exhibitions on anti-drug activities, drama performances, magic show, Police Band and Police Dog Unit also performed in the carnival.

     Among other programmes, the Booth Game Design Contest was the highlight of the carnival. Comprising of teachers and students, 12 primary school teams and 13 secondary school teams designed and managed games booths with the theme of anti-youth drug abuse and drug-free campus. They competed for the best booth games awards, the most creative booth games awards and the best design games booths awards. Creative and educational booth games brought joyous atmosphere to the carnival.

     Officiating guests included Commissioner for Narcotics, Mrs Erika Hui; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), Mr Lo Mung-hung; Project Steering Committee Advisors, Dr Lee Yuk-lun and Mr Ng Siu-keung; Chairman of the Action Committee Against Narcotics, Professor Daniel Shek Tan-lei; Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, Rev Dominic Chan; and Chief Superintendent of Police (Narcotics Bureau), Mr Tsang Cheung-tat.
