Complaints Against Police Office conducts impartial investigation on obstruction of media coverage

     Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) will conduct fair and impartial investigation into the incident which a press photographer alleged to have been treated by a police officer in an inappropriate manner during media coverage on the debate forum of Chief Executive election on March 16 in Kowloon City.

     Police received the complaint today (March 18) and CAPO will investigate the incident. The complainant has already been contacted and no further comment can be made at this stage.

     Police respect press freedom and the media's right of reporting, and fully understand the importance of facilitating the media to conduct reporting activities and maintaining effective communication with them.

     The spokesman reiterates that Police will continue to maintain a close partnership with the media on the basis of mutual respect and understanding. The Force will provide all possible assistance and continue to maintain close communication with the media to strengthen co-operation.
