Thespians relish oral history roles
***********************************

For a group of seniors in Sham Shui Po, learning to present their real-life stories through drama onstage was transformational. They went from lonely to lauded, and their fading memories came alive in the limelight.

Under the Sham Shui Po District Community Oral History Theatre Project, more than 20 participants aged 63 to 93 embraced the opportunity to take up acting. In the process, they forged new friendships, felt years younger, and garnered unexpected rewards. Some even landed small roles in Ann Hui's award-winning film, A Simple Life.

The seniors describe the experience and the effects it had on their lives in a video and feature story on news.gov.hk today (March 18).
