Public alerted to fraudulent websites

     The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) today (March 9) wishes to alert members of the public to the following fraudulent websites, which resemble the official websites of government departments and Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
      
     Resembling the home page of Inland Revenue Department:

www.unthk.com/hktax.html
www.51zc.hk/hktax.html

     Resembling the home page and the Cyber Search Centre web page of Companies Registry:
company-registry.com/hkcr/index.html
company-registry.com/HKGSCX/index.html

     Resembling the Trade Mark Search System web page of Intellectual Property Department:
company-registry.com/hktm/index.html
company-registry.com/hkpatent/index.html

     Resembling the home page of Hong Kong Monetary Authority:
company-registry.com/hkma/

     The Police, OGCIO and Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre are taking action to take down these fraudulent websites.  

     The public are reminded to exercise extra caution in releasing their personal information online. They should also take the following measures as a general precaution:

* Do not respond to suspicious emails.
* Do not click on links or open any attachments in suspicious emails.
* Report suspicious emails or websites to the Police and relevant departments/bureaux.
