In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hong Kong City Hall, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Dance Day is being held today (March 4) at the City Hall.

An opening parade with 200 young dancers, which started from the pedestrian subway at Edinburgh Place, began the event. A few dance points were located at Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct. The parade lasted for approximately 30 minutes and ended at the main stage at Edinburgh Place.

The opening performance at 1pm was a newly created dance piece, "City Hall and I", choreographed and performed by 14 local veteran choreographers. It was followed by the opening ceremony officiated by guests including the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Raymond Young, and the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mrs Betty Fung.

These include the newly created dance piece "City Hall and I"; celebrity talks by renowned dancers in "Those Were the Days"; an environmental dance in the Memorial Garden; hourly sessions led by professional dancers to teach the moves of the theme dance of this year's Dance Day; a photography corner, "Flash Dance, Jump!", to capture your best dance pose; "Dance in Hong Kong - A Time Tunnel", which takes visitors back in time to trace the development of dance in Hong Kong; and "Dance Along the Way", which offers participants a crash course in dance.
