Police tonight (March 3) reclassified a person collapsed case in Ma On Shan this morning as homicide.
At about 8.22am, a staff of a sanatorium at 45 A Kung Kok Shan Road requested for ambulance service to send a 45-year-old collapsed male inmate to Prince of Wales Hospital. The man was certified dead at 8.55am.
Police was informed of the dead on arrival case by the Hospital at 9.13am. Police investigation revealed that the man was assaulted by a 48-year-old male inmate earlier at the sanatorium.
The 48-year-old man was subsequently arrested in suspected connection with the case and still detained for further enquiries.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the death.
Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Shatin Police District according to investigation procedures of homicide case are underway.
