Dance Day 12.3.4 to celebrate City Hall's 50th anniversary

     Dance Day 12.3.4 ¡V a special name for a special event. A stellar meeting of local dancers, dance groups and members of the public, Dance Day will take place on March 4, 2012 (Sunday) in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hong Kong City Hall.

     This year's Dance Day is being held at Hong Kong City Hall to mark a milestone in the building's history. Four event ambassadors Lau Siu-ming, Mui Cheuk-yin, Li Long-hin and Lee Hiu-ching - will team up with 700 performers including veterans, emerging dancers, dance troupes, arts groups and schools and members of the public for a fabulous and unforgettable programme. The opening parade, which includes 200 participants, will take place at 12.30pm. Other activities and shows will start immediately after the opening ceremony.

     The event will showcase a wide range of dance and offer enriching activities for all walks of life. These include the newly created dance piece "City Hall and I", celebrity talks by renowned dancers in "Those Were the Days", an environmental dance in the Memorial Garden, and the photography corner "Flash Dance, Jump!" to capture your best dance pose. "Dance in Hong Kong - A Time Tunnel" will take you back in time to trace the development of dance in Hong Kong, and then there's "Dance Along the Way", and many more.

     One of the many attractions is the event's theme dance, which is featured on the Internet at www.facebook.com/danceday or www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/Programme/en/dance/0000033a.html. Come along and learn the dance with professional dancers on the day.

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has invited a wide array of local dance performers and contributers to participate in this important event.      This is an event for all the family, dance enthusiasts and young people. It will start at 12.30pm and end at 6pm. Admission is free.
