The Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) were commended by the Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) for their exemplary efforts to detect a smuggling case of rhino horns and ivory products last November. At a ceremony held today (February 22), the CITES Chief of Enforcement Support, Mr Ben Janse van Rensburg (second left), on behalf of the CITES Secretary-General, presented certificates to the Senior Endangered Species Protection Officer of the AFCD, Mr Chan Yiu-keung (first left); the Group Head (Ports Control) of the C&ED, Mr Lam Tak-fai (first right); and the Acting Group Head (Intelligence Processing) of the C&ED, Mr Fred Chau (second right).
