First Editorial Record of Laws of Hong Kong published
*****************************************************

The first editorial record compiled under section 2B of the Laws (Loose-leaf Publication) Ordinance 1990 (Loose-leaf Ordinance) containing descriptions of editorial amendments made to the Loose-leaf Edition of the Laws of Hong Kong was published today (February 9). Section 2B of the Loose-leaf Ordinance was added by section 21 of the Legislation Publication Ordinance and brought into effect in January 2012.

The editorial record, available in both loose-leaf and booklet formats, can be purchased and subscribed through the Information Services Department.

The above editorial amendments taking effect from today have been made by the Secretary for Justice (SJ) in accordance with the editorial powers conferred on him under section 2A of the Loose-leaf Ordinance, which was also added by section 21 of the Legislation Publication Ordinance and brought into effect in January 2012.

The Legislation Publication Ordinance was enacted in June 2011, consolidating SJ's editorial powers and conferring on him new editorial powers to ensure that the statute book is correct, is up to date and accords with current legislative drafting styles.

The editorial record can also be browsed by members of the public at the Bilingual Laws Information System website (www.legislation.gov.hk) of the Department of Justice.
