Primary and secondary school students participating in the concerts will be encouraged to use their creativity to stage musical performances related to environmental protection.

Six concerts will be held from February to April. The first three concerts will be held at 3pm on the Saturdays of February 11, 18 and March 3 at the Auditorium of the Yuen Long Theatre, the Auditorium of the North District Town Hall and the Ko Shan Theatre respectively.

Twenty-five primary and secondary schools will perform at these first three concerts, and a varied programme will include Chinese drum music ¡§The Surging Waves of the Yellow River¡¨ and ¡§The Rumbling of the Earth¡¨, Vivaldi¡¦s string music ¡§The Four Seasons¡¨, West African drum music ¡§Balakulandjan¡¨, guzheng ensemble music ¡§Jasmine¡¨ and several choral performances including ¡§All Things Bright and Beautiful¡¨, ¡§For the Beauty of the Earth¡¨ and ¡§I am a Small Part of the World¡¨. Some of the performing schools will use self-made musical instruments during the concerts.

To encourage students to strive for excellence in music, creative thinking, communication skills and team co-operation, various awards including Virtuoso Performance, Theme Presentation, Potential Performers, and Charming Stage Performance will be presented at the concerts. Members of the audience will also be invited to vote for the Audience¡¦s Favourite Award at each concert, both to support the students¡¦performances and to enhance interaction during the concerts.
