The Police will implement special traffic arrangements in West Kowloon, New Territories South and Hong Kong Island to facilitate the Hong Kong Marathon 2012 this Sunday (February 5).
Kowloon West
------------
(A) Road closure and diversion
Traffic arrangements in Kowloon will be implemented in phases as follows:
Phase I ¡V starting from 12.45am
Road closures are as follows:
(a) A section of southbound West Kowloon Highway between Mei Ching Interchange and Western Harbour Tunnel;
(b) A slip road from northbound Lin Cheung Road leading to southbound West Kowloon Highway;
(c) A section of southbound Lin Cheung Road between its junction with the slip road to Tsim Sha Tsui and West Kowloon Highway;
(d) A slip road from northbound Hoi Wang Road leading to southbound West Kowloon Highway; and
(e) The bus lane from westbound Jordan Road elevated road leading to Western Harbour Tunnel Bus Stops will be closed at its entrance at westbound Jordan Road.
Traffic diversions will be implemented as follows:
(a) Traffic along northbound Lin Cheung Road cannot turn to the slip road leading to southbound West Kowloon Highway;
(b) Traffic along southbound Lin Cheung Road will be diverted to the slip road heading Tsim Sha Tsui;
(c) Traffic along northbound Hoi Wang Road cannot turn to the slip road leading to southbound West Kowloon Highway;
(d) Traffic along westbound Ngo Cheung Road cannot turn to the slip road leading to southbound West Kowloon Highway; and
(e) Traffic along westbound Jordan Road elevated road cannot turn left to the bus lane leading to Western Harbour Tunnel bus stops.
Phase II ¡V starting from 1.40am
The following road closures will be implemented:
(a) A section of northbound Nathan Road between Bowring Street and Salisbury Road;
(b) A section of southbound Nathan Road between Kimberley Road and Middle Road;
(c) A section of westbound Kimberley Road between Nathan Road and Carnarvon Road;
(d) A section of Granville Road between Nathan Road and Carnarvon Road;
(e) A section of Cameron Road between Nathan Road and Cameron Lane;
(f) Humphreys Road;
(g) A section of Carnarvon Road between Nathan Road and Bristol Avenue;
(h) A section of Mody Road between Nathan Road and Bristol Avenue;
(i) A section of Haiphong Road between Lock Road and Nathan Road;
(j) A section of Peking Road between Lock Road and Nathan Road; and
(k) A section of Middle Road between Hankow Road and Nathan Road.
Traffic diversions will be implemented as follows:
(a) Traffic along Salisbury Road cannot turn to northbound Nathan Road;
(b) Traffic along southbound Nathan Road will be diverted to eastbound Kimberley Road;
(c) Traffic along northbound Carnarvon Road cannot turn to westbound Kimberley Road;
(d) Traffic along northbound Carnarvon Road cannot turn to westbound Granville Road;
(e) Traffic along southbound Carnarvon Road will be diverted to southbound Bristol Avenue; and
(f) Traffic along eastbound Haiphong Road will be diverted to southbound Lock Road.
Phase III ¡V starting from 4am:
Road closures are as follows:
(a) Southbound Kowloon Park Drive;
(b) Ashley Road;
(c) Hankow Road;
(d) Lock Road;
(e) A section of Haiphong Road between Canton Road and Lock Road;
(f) Ichang Street;
(g) A section of Peking Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Lock Road; and
(h) A section of Middle Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Hankow Road.
Traffic diversions will be implemented as follows:
(a) Traffic along southbound Canton Road cannot turn to southbound Kowloon Park Drive;
(b) Traffic along southbound Canton Road cannot turn to Haiphong Road;
(c) Traffic along northbound Kowloon Park Drive cannot turn to eastbound Peking Road; and
(d) Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road cannot turn to Hankow Road.
Phase IV ¡V starting from 5am
Road closures are as follows:
(a) A section of southbound Lin Cheung Road between a slip road leading to Tsim Sha Tsui and Road D1A(N);
(b) An elevated road leading from Hoi Po Road between a slip road leading to Tsim Sha Tsui and Road D1A(N);

(b) Traffic along elevated road from Hoi Po Road will be diverted to eastbound Lai Cheung Road;
(c) Traffic along northbound Lin Cheung Road cannot turn to eastbound Jordon Road;
(d) Traffic along eastbound Jordan Road will be diverted to turn left to northbound Lin Cheung Road;
(e) Traffic along roundabout of Austin Road West junction with Lin Cheung Road cannot turn to eastbound Austin Road West;
(f) Traffic along northbound Canton Road will be diverted to turn left to westbound Austin Road West;
(g) Traffic along westbound Jordan Road will be diverted to turn right to northbound Ferry Street;
(h) Traffic along southbound Ferry Street will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Jordan Road;
(i) Southbound Road D1A(S), eastbound Wui Cheung Road, the first lane of northbound Canton Road between Jordan Road and Wui Cheung Road, and the first lane of westbound Jordan Road between Canton Road and Road D1A(S) will be restricted for use by franchised buses only;
(j) Traffic along westbound Jordan Road cannot turn to southbound Shanghai Street;
(k) Traffic along southbound Woosung Street will be diverted to turn right to westbound Bowring Street;
(l) Traffic along westbound Bowring Street will be diverted to turn right to northbound Temple Street;
(m) Traffic along southbound Nathan Road will be diverted to turn right to westbound Jordan Road;
(n) Traffic along westbound Jordan Road cannot turn left to southbound Nathan Road;
(o) Traffic along southbound Cox¡¦s Road will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Austin Road;
(p) Traffic along westbound Austin Road will be diverted to turn right to northbound Cox¡¦s Road;
(q) Traffic along Hillwood Road cannot enter southbound Nathan Road; and
(r) Traffic along Scout Path cannot enter westbound Austin Road.
(B) Suspension of bus terminuses
All franchised bus terminuses, bus stops, green minibus stops within the operational area will be suspended. Details are as follows:
(a) To Wah Road Bus Terminus will be suspended starting from the first bus of the day;
(b) Franchised buses on southbound Nathan Road will be truncated/diverted to westbound Public Square Street and westbound Jordan Road respectively;
(c) Franchised buses travelling via West Kowloon Highway to Western Harbour Tunnel, will be diverted to use Hung Hom Harbour Tunnel to Hong Kong Island until re-opening of the road;
(d) Buses going to Star Ferry Bus Terminus, via Chatham Road South and Salisbury Road, will not be affected; and
(e) Temporary Bus Terminus will be set up along southbound Road D1A(S), eastbound Wui Cheung Road between Road D1A(S) and Canton Road, and Canton Road between Jordan Road and Saigon Street.
(C) Car park and hotel access
Vehicular access to and from hotels and car parks within the affected area will not be allowed during the respective phases of road closures.
(D) On-street parking
On-street parking, except metered parking spaces at Kimberley Road and the section of Canton Road between Jordan Road and Saigon Street, will not be suspended. As certain roads will be closed for the race, vehicles parked there will be prohibited to move or enter the race route. All vehicles parked in a way causing obstruction will be towed away.
New Territories South

The following road closures/traffic diversions will be implemented from 11.45pm on February 4 to 1.30pm on February 5 or when it is safe to re-open the roads to normal vehicular traffic.

(a) Traffic from Lantau to Kowloon will be diverted via the lower deck of Lantau Link, North West Tsing Yi Interchange, Tsing Yi North Coastal Road, Tsing Tsuen Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road;
(b) Traffic from Lantau to Tuen Mun and Yuen Long will be diverted via the lower deck of Lantau Link and northbound Ting Kau Bridge before reaching Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel;
(c) Traffic from Ma Wan to Kowloon will be diverted via westbound Lantau Link (Kap Shui Mun Bridge), the lower deck of Lantau Link, North West Tsing Yi Interchange, Tsing Yi North Coastal Road, Tsing Tsuen Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road;
(d) Traffic from Ma Wan to Tuen Mun and Yuen Long will be diverted via westbound Lantau Link (Kap Shui Mun Bridge), the lower deck of Lantau Link and northbound Ting Kau Bridge before reaching Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel;
(e) Traffic from Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel intending to use Ting Kau Bridge to go to the Airport, Lantau and Ma Wan will be diverted to use Tuen Mun Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Tsuen Tsing Interchange, Tsing Tsuen Road, Tsing Yi North Coastal Road and slip road leading to Lantau Link before reaching Lantau Link airport bound.
(f) Traffic from Tuen Mun Road and Tai Lam Tunnel intending to use Ting Kau Bridge to go to Kowloon will be diverted to use Tuen Mun Road, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road;
(g) Traffic from Tsing Yi South intending to use Tsing Sha Highway to go to Kowloon will be diverted to use Tsing Yi Road, Kwai Tsing Road, Kwai Tsing Interchange, Tsuen Wan Road, Kwai Chung Road, Cheung Sha Wan Road and Lai Chi Kok Road; and
(h) Traffic from Kwai Chung Container Port intending to use Tsing Sha Highway to go to Kowloon will be diverted to use Container Port Road South, Hing Wah Street West and Lai Po Road.
The above road closures will not affect vehicles from Kowloon / New Territories East via Route 3 or Route 8 to various destinations, including the Airport, the Lantau, Ma Wan and New Territories West.

l. Traffic along eastbound Jaffe Road will be diverted to northbound Percival Street, except GMBs;
m. Traffic along eastbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Marsh Road (if necessary); and
n. Traffic along Tin Lok Lane heading for northbound Marsh Road will be prohibited and must turn left or right to westbound or eastbound Hennessy Road respectively (if necessary).
(B) Lifting of pedestrian precinct:
The Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct will remain open to traffic until 3pm or when all major road closures on Hong Kong Island are re-opened to vehicular traffic.
(C) Extension of Lockhart Road, East Point Road and Great George Street pedestrian precinct:
Road closure for the pedestrian precinct at Lockhart Road (between Cannon Street and East Point Road), East Point Road and Great George Street (between East Point Road and Paterson Street) will be extended from 12.01am to 11.59pm on February 5. The roads will be re-opened to all vehicular traffic from 12.01am on February 6.
(D) Suspension of parking spaces:
Parking spaces at the following locations will be suspended from 12.01am to 3pm:
a. Lung King Street;
b. Coach parking spaces at Expo Drive East;
c. A section of Jaffe Road between Percival Street and Cannon Street.
(E) Restriction on access to/exit from carparks and hotels on closed roads:
Vehicular access to/from the carparks at Great George Street and Park Lane Hotel will be closed from 5am to 2.15pm. Vehicles parked in carparks within the closed areas will not be permitted to leave the carparks during the road closure period until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.
(F) Suspension of taxi stands:
The taxi stands at the following locations will be suspended from 12.01am to 3pm:
a. Man Kwong Street;
b. Expo Drive;
c. Paterson Street; and
d. Lockhart Road near Cannon Street.
(G) Suspension of public light bus stands:
The public light bus stands at the following locations will be suspended from 12.01am to 3pm:
a. Sugar Street; and
b. Eastbound Lockhart Road near Canal Road West.
(H) Suspension of GMB stands:
The GMB stands at the following locations will be suspended from 12.01am to 3pm:
a. Man Kwong Street;
b. Tin Hau Public Transport Interchange (from 4am to 11am);
c. Paterson Street;
d. Cannon Street; and
e. Lockhart Road.
(I) Suspension of bus terminus and bus stops:
a. The bus terminus at Expo Drive East will be suspended from 12.01am to 2.15pm; and
b. Bus stops at Man Kwong Street, northbound Fleming Road, eastbound Convention Avenue and eastbound Harbour Road will be suspended from 6am to 2.15pm.

m. Traffic along Wharf Road slip road heading for westbound Island Eastern Corridor will be diverted to westbound Wharf Road, North Point Road, Java Road, Tong Shui Road and King's Road; and
n. Traffic along Tsing Fung Street flyover will be diverted to the slow lane of westbound Victoria Park Road and Gloucester Road service road.
Phase III - from 4am to 8.30am:

b. Traffic along westbound King¡¦s Road heading for Hing Fat Street will be diverted to westbound Causeway Road;
c. Traffic along southbound Electric Road will be diverted to turn left to Yacht Street except access for Park Towers;
d. Traffic exiting from Park Towers carpark will be diverted to Electric Road and Yacht Street; and
e. Traffic along Electric Road heading for Tsing Fung Street will be diverted to Yacht Street.
Phase IV - from 5.15am to 10am:
A section of westbound Island Eastern Corridor between Eastern Harbour Crossing exit and down ramp slip road leading to Man Hong Street will be closed. Traffic from Eastern Harbour Crossing exit heading for westbound Island Eastern Corridor will be diverted to Hong On Street, Tai On Street, Shau Kei Wan Road and King's Road during the closure of Man Hong Street slip road.
Phase V - from 5.15am to 10.30am:
A section of northbound Tai Hang Road flyover to westbound Gloucester Road will be closed. Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road flyover heading for westbound Gloucester Road will be diverted to Gloucester Road service road.
Phase VI - From 5.15am to 2.15pm:
Road closure:

a. A section of northbound Gloucester Road between an U-turn slip road beneath Tai Hang Road flyover and Great George Street;
b. A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Gloucester Road service road and Causeway Road (access to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover is allowed after 9.30am);
c. Great George Street towards southbound Gloucester Road;
d. Sugar Street;
e. A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street; and
f. Westbound Kingston Street between Gloucester Road and Paterson Street.
Traffic diversion:

a. Traffic along southbound Causeway Bay flyover will be diverted to Gloucester Road service road (access to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover is allowed from 9.30am onwards);
b. Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
c. Traffic along southbound Paterson Street will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Kingston Street and northbound Gloucester Road;
d. Traffic along Cleveland Street will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Kingston Street and northbound Gloucester Road; and
e. Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road flyover will be diverted to northbound Gloucester Road and Gloucester Road service road.
(B) Extension of Lockhart Road, East Point Road and Great George Street pedestrian precinct:
Road closure for the pedestrian precinct at Lockhart Road (between Cannon Street and East Point Road), East Point Road and Great George Street (between East Point Road and Paterson Street) will be extended from 12.01am to 11.59pm on February 5. The roads will be re-opened to all vehicular traffic from 12.01am on February 6.
(C) Suspension of parking spaces:
a. All on-street parking spaces at eastbound Lockhart Road between Marsh Road and Percival Street will be suspended from 12.01am to 3pm;
b. All parking spaces (except disabled parking spaces) at Hing Fat Street public carpark will be suspended from 10pm on February 4 to 3pm on February 5; and
c. All metered parking spaces and parking spaces for motorcycles on the eastern kerbside lane of Tung Lo Wa Road between Lin Fa Kung Street West and King¡¦s Road will be suspended between 3am and 10am.
(D) Suspension of taxi stands:
The taxi stands at Electric Road near Yacht Street and at Lau Li Street near Hing Fat Street will be suspended from 4am to 10.30am.
(E) Suspension of Tin Hau Public Transport Interchange:
The Tin Hau Public Transport Interchange will be suspended from 4am to 11am. During the period of suspension, the following temporary public transport arrangements will be implemented:
a. GMB Route 49M will omit the routeing via Hing Fat Street, MTR Tin Hau Station, King's Road, Ngan Mok Street and Lau Li Street;
b. GMB Route 39M will be converted to circular route and omit the stop at MTR Tin Hau Station;
c. The terminus of cross-harbour routes 914 and 968 will be relocated to Tung Lo Wan Road opposite to Queen's College; and
d. The terminus of bus route E11 will be relocated to Causeway Road near Queen's College.
(F) Suspension of bus stops:
a. Bus stop at Hing Fat Street outside Hing Fat Street public carpark will be suspended from 4am to 10.30am; and
b. Bus stop at Gloucester Road outside Gate 6 of Victoria Park will be suspended from 4.30am to 2.15pm.
