LegCo Complex Open Day (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     To mark the opening of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Complex, a two-day Open Day will be held on February 11(Saturday) and February 12(Sunday) for members of the public. Apart from holding guided tours, there will be games booths, exhibitions and performances to make the visit to the LegCo Complex a delightful and worthwhile experience for visitors.

     Guided tours will be held from 10am to about 7pm (the last tour starting at 6pm) on the two-day Open Day. Each tour will last for about 75 minutes and will cover all conference and educational facilities in the LegCo Complex, including the Chamber, conference rooms, Viewing Gallery, Memory Lane and Education Gallery.

     Games booths will be set up in the covered area under the drum of the Chamber, where members of the public would learn more about the work of the Council through a range of educational games. A Photo Corner, with the image of the Chamber as the backdrop, will be set up for individual Members to meet the public and take photos with them. A souvenir booth will be set up to provide a selection of LegCo souvenirs.

     Not only can visitors pay a visit to the LegCo Complex, but they will also have the opportunity to observe various performances, including lion dance, marching band, choir and handbell ensemble, Chinese instrumental ensemble and magic.

     President of the LegCo, Mr Jasper Tsang; Chairman of the House Committee, Ms Miriam Lau; and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee, Mr Fred Li, will officiate at an opening ceremony at 9.30am on February 11 at the Main Lobby of the LegCo Complex to mark the start of the event.

     Members of the public who wish to join the guided tours will be requested to obtain admission tickets in advance. To obtain the tickets, members of the public can queue up outside Public Entrance 1 of the LegCo Complex from 9am to 2pm on February 4 (Saturday) or they can make online registration (www.legco.gov.hk) to reserve tickets from 9am onwards on February 4 (Saturday). Each person may obtain a maximum of four tickets, and tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
