Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Ma On Shan this morning (January 21) in which a 49-year-old man died and a 45-year-old woman was injured.
About 6.50am, a private car driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along A Kung Kok Street towards Ma On Shan. When reaching outside Sha Tin Hospital, the private car reportedly had a head-on collision with a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 45-year-old man travelling in the opposite direction. Another LGV driven by a 54-year-old man reportedly failed to brake and rammed into the LGV from behind.
The 49-year-old private car driver and a 45-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and were conveyed to Prince of Wales Hospital. The private car driver was certified dead at 7.35am.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding.
