Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 37-year-old man was killed in Tai Po early this morning (January 18).

     At 3.24am, a private car driven by the 37-year-old man was travelling along Ting Kok Road towards Tai Mei Tuk. On reaching near 72 Ting Kok Road, it reportedly lost control and crashed into a traffic sign, a traffic light pole and the central divider.

     After the impact, the driver was trapped inside the compartment and was rescued by firemen.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the driver was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 4.16am.

     Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.

     Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has any information is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 3800.
