Man bound over for committing an act of outraging public decency online

     A 19-year-old man was bound over be of good behaviour for 12 months at Tuen Mun Magistrates¡¦ Courts today (January 12).

     The court heard that the man posted a message thread on an online discussion forum on November 4, 2011, which caused public disgust and outrage. Following extensive investigation, officers from the Technology Crime Division of the Commercial Crime Bureau arrested the man for outraging public decency in Tuen Mun on November 10, 2011. He was subsequently bound over to be of good behaviour for 12 months at $2,000 today.

     Police reminded members of the public that most Hong Kong laws to prevent crime with physical world ordinances apply equally to the cyber world.
