Appointments to Business Facilitation Advisory Committee

     The Government today (January 12) announced the appointment and re-appointment of non-official members to the Business Facilitation Advisory Committee for a new term ending December 31, 2013.

     The seven new non-official members are:

* Mr Andrew Leung (Legislative Councillor)
* Dr Michael Chan (Chairman, Café de Coral Holdings Limited)
* Ms Sabrina Chan (Executive Director, Hong Kong Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry)
* Mr Ivan Chu (Chief Operating Officer, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited)
* Ms Yolanda Ng (Director (Business Development), Global Chinese Telemedia Ltd)
* Ms Scarlett Pong (Chairman, Health Quotient HQ International Institute Limited)
* Mr Simon Wong (Executive Director, LHGroup)

     The 12 re-appointed non-official members are:

* Mr Yu Pang-chun (Director and General Manager, Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium Ltd)
* Mr Philip Fan (Non-executive Director, China Everbright International Limited)
* Mr Andrew Fung (Executive Director and Head of Treasury and Investment, Hang Seng Bank Limited)
* Ms Angela Lee (Consultant, Baker & McKenzie)
* Mr Alan Lo (Co-founder and Director, Press Room Group)
* Ms Poman Lo (Executive Director, Regal Hotels International Holdings Limited)
* Mr Anthony Lock (Chief Executive Officer, Tsui Wah Group)
* Ms Caroline Mak (Regional Director, North Asia, The Diary Farm Group)
* Mr Raj Sital Motwani (Director, Style Asia Ltd)
* Prof Raymond So (Dean, School of Business, Hang Seng Management College)
* Mr Joseph Wong (Managing Director, China Overseas Hotel and Land Development Ltd)
* Mr Patrick Wong (Chief Executive Officer, Tenacity International Limited)

     The committee will be chaired by Mr Yu Pang-chun with Mr Andrew Leung as deputy chairman in the new term.

     Since its formation, the committee has contributed useful ideas to help improve the competitiveness of the local business environment by cutting red tape, removing unnecessary regulatory barriers, improving regulatory efficiency and reducing business compliance costs. It has also served as an effective platform for the trades and the Government to thrash out implementation details of new or proposed business regulations. The Government is confident that the committee will continue to help make Hong Kong an even better place to do business. The terms of reference of the committee are at Annex.

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, paid tribute to Mr Anthony Nightingale, the outgoing committee chairman, for his exemplary leadership and invaluable contribution over the years. The Financial Secretary also thanked Ms Emily Lau, the outgoing deputy chairman, and other outgoing non-official members, including Mr Richard Au-yeung, Mr Benjamin Cha, Mr Tommy Cheung, Mr Dennis Kwok, Mr Leung Kam-leung, Mr Byrant Lu, Mr Eddie Ng and Mr Douglas Young, for their support and contribution to the work of the committee and its task forces.
