Fatal traffic accident in Lantau North

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Lantau North this afternoon (January 11) in which a 55-year-old man died.

     At about 12.45pm, a taxi driven by a 56-year-old woman was travelling along North Lantau Highway towards the airport. Upon reaching near Phase 1 of Caribbean Coast, it reportedly lost control and side-turned.

     The 56-year-old driver and a 55-year-old male passenger sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in unconscious state where the male passenger was subsequently certified dead at 1.48pm. The female driver was still under medical treatment in PMH.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
