Traffic arrangements for Hong Kong & Kowloon Walk for Millions

     Police will implement special arrangements on Hong Kong Island to facilitate the Hong Kong & Kowloon Walk for Millions 2011/2012 to be held on Sunday (January 8).

     The charity walk will start at about 9.20am at Hong Kong Stadium and will finish at Aberdeen Country Park.

     Special traffic arrangements to be implemented are as follows:

Road closures
-------------

     Stadium Path will be closed from 7.45am.

     The following roads will be closed from 8am:

(a) A section of uphill Link Road between Caroline Hill Road and Broadwood Road;
(b) A section of uphill inner lane of Wong Nai Chung Gap Road between the French International School and the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association;
(c) A section of downhill Broadwood Road between Link Road and Tai Hang Road
(d) Southbound Tai Hang Road between Broadwood Road and Blue Pool Road (upper section) and eastbound Tai Hang Road between Broadwood Road and Blue Pool Road (lower section), except for local residents, franchised buses and green mini-buses;
(e) A section of northbound Caroline Hill Road between Link Road and Eastern Hospital Road; and
(f) A section of Mount Butler Road between Tai Hang Road and Price Road.

Road diversions
---------------

     The following traffic diversions will be implemented from 7.45am:

(a) A section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Stadium Path will be re-routed one-way southbound; and
(b) Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be re-routed one-way northbound.

     The following traffic diversions will be implemented from 8am:

(a) Traffic on southbound Caroline Hill Road will not be allowed to turn right to uphill Link Road;
(b) A section of Link Road between Broadwood Road and Caroline Hill Road will be routed one-way downhill. Traffic along downhill Link Road may not be allowed to turn right at the junction of Link Road and Caroline Hill Road and that of Caroline Hill Road and Leighton Road;
(c) A section of Broadwood Road between Link Road and Tai Hang Road will be routed one-way uphill southbound. All traffic on Broadwood Road will be diverted to northbound Tai Hang Road;
(d) Traffic on southbound Tai Hang Road will be diverted to Perkins Road or U-turn to northbound Tai Hang Road;
(e) Traffic on eastbound Tai Hang Road and westbound Blue Pool Road (lower section) will be diverted to westbound Tai Hang Road, except for local residents, franchised buses and green mini-buses; and
(f) A section of Mount Butler Road between Mount Butler Drive and Price Road will be re-routed one-way uphill.

     Traffic on Stubbs Road will not be allowed to enter the Wanchai Gap Park area and all vehicles will be diverted to Magazine Gap Road and Coombe Road from 9.30am.

Suspension of on-street parking spaces
--------------------------------------

(1) All parking spaces on Stadium Path, Caroline Hill Road and Hoi Ping Road will be suspended between 6am and 1pm; and

(2) All parking spaces on Coombe Road will be suspended between 6am and 3pm.

Prohibition to learner drivers
------------------------------

     Tai Hang Road, Leighton Road, Sharp Street East, Percival Street south of Hennessy Road, Caroline Hill Road, Link Road, Stadium Path, Cotton Path, Eastern Hospital Road, Eastern Hospital Road Service Road, Broadwood Road, southbound Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, southbound Stubbs Road Flyover, Aberdeen Reservoir Road and Yue Kwong Road will be prohibited to all learner drivers between 7am and 3pm.

     Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow the instructions of Traffic Police at the scene. Any vehicles found illegally parked within the closed areas will be towed away without prior notice.
