Proposed construction of cycle parking area near Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier, Lamma Island, gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (January 6) on the proposed construction of a cycle parking area near Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier, Lamma Island. The proposed works aim to provide cycle parking facilities to meet local demand and to alleviate safety risks arising from illegally parked bicycles.

     The proposed works are as follows:

(a) construction of a deck structure;
(b) construction of a public cycle parking area and a footpath on the deck structure;
(c) permanent closure and demolition of an existing footbridge;
(d) temporary closure and reconstruction of a section of the existing catwalk; and
(e) ancillary works including waterworks, public utilities, lighting and construction of traffic signs, kerbs and railings.

     The plan and scheme of the proposed works are available for public inspection at the following places during office hours:

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or their use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 22/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong, on or before March 6, 2012.
