Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan last night (December 27) in which a 47-year-old man was killed.

     At about 9pm yesterday, a bus driven by a 59-year-old man reportedly hit the 47-year-old man when making a right turn from Siu Sai Wan Road into Island Resort Bus Terminus.  

     After the impact, the 47-year-old man was trapped underneath the bus and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, he was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (EH) where he was certified dead at 9.30pm. The bus driver felt unwell and was also sent to EH for medical treatment.

     The driver has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
