Man surrendered to New Zealand

     A 30-year-old New Zealand male citizen wanted for multiple counts of theft and money laundering in New Zealand was extradited to New Zealand from Hong Kong last night (December 20).

     Upon a request from the Government of New Zealand under the Agreement for the Surrender of Accused and Convicted Persons with the Government of Hong Kong, INTERPOL HK CHINA arrested the 30-year-old man on September 29.

     An extradition hearing was held at Eastern Magistrates' Courts from September 30 and the court made an order on October 27 committing the man to custody to await the Chief Executive¡¦s decision as to his surrender.

     Pursuant to an order for surrender made by the Chief Executive, arrangements were made for the return of the man to New Zealand last night.
