Two men arrested for false registration of electors

     Police today (December 20) arrested two 57-year-old men, with one of them suspected to be in connection with providing false information in the registration of electors in Ping Shan South Constituency of Yuen Long District in the 2011 District Council Election and the other suspected to have incited other persons to provide false information in the registration of electors.

     Officers of the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories North arrested the men in Tai Po area this afternoon. They were suspected to have contravened Section 22 (1) and (2) of Cap 541A, the Electoral Affairs Commission (Registration of Electors) (District Council Constituencies) Regulation. The man who was suspected to have provided false information in the registration of electors did not cast vote at the election.

     The two arrested men was released on police bail and are required to report back to Police in late December.

     Active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories North are underway.
