Man arrested for false registration of electors

     Police today (December 19) arrested a 46-year-old man who was suspected to be in connection with providing false information in the registration of electors in Ping Shan South Constituency of Yuen Long District in the 2011 District Council Election.

     Officers of the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories North arrested the man in Tai Po area this afternoon. The man was suspected to have provided false information to the Registration and Electoral Office, contrary to Section 22 of Cap 541A, the Electoral Affairs Commission (Registration of Electors) (District Council Constituencies) Regulation. He did not cast vote at the election.

     The arrested man was released on police bail and is required to report back to Police in late December.

     Active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories North are underway.
