Vacancy in Yuen Long District Council

The Government declared by notice in the Gazette today (December 16) the existence of a vacancy of an elected seat in the Yuen Long District Council (Fu Yan Constituency).
Former Yuen Long District Council member, Mr Cheung Man-fai, has been sentenced at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts to 15 months' imprisonment for fraud and theft. In accordance with Section 26(c) of the District Councils Ordinance (Cap. 547), the office became vacant on November 17, 2011.
