Fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Yuen Long this morning (December 8) in which a 58-year-old woman died and three persons were injured.

     About 9.40am, a private car driven by a 50-year-old man parking at the road side of Fook Hong Street near Sau Fu Street reportedly rushed forward and hit a light goods vehicle in front. The private car then rammed onto the pavement and knocked down three female pedestrians aged between 43 and 58.

     The 50-year-old driver and the three injured female pedestrians were rushed to Pok Oi Hospital for medical treatment. Two injured female pedestrians aged 43 and 58 sustained serious head injuries and serious multiple injuries respectively and were later transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital where the 58-year-old woman was certified dead at 2.33pm.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
 
     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North, are underway.
