Police today (December 8) appealed for information about a traffic accident in Central this morning in which an 86-year-old woman was killed.
About 3.50am, a taxi driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along Connaught Road Central towards Western District. When reaching the junction with Pottinger Street, it reportedly knocked down the 86-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining serious injuries, the woman was sent to the Queen Mary Hospital and was later certified dead at 4.21am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are under way.
