Fugitive handed back to Hong Kong

     A 33-year-old man wanted in connection with a conspiring to throw corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm case was handed over from the Public Security Bureau (PSB) of Mainland China to Hong Kong Police (HKP) on December 2.

     The man was suspected to be in connection with a case in which an expatriate Counsel was splashed with corrosive fluid on Harbour Road in Wan Chai on October 27, 2009. The man fled to Mainland China afterwards.

     The man was intercepted by Shenzhen PSB in mid-November and was returned to HKP at Huanggang Border Control Point on December 2.

     Police laid a holding charge against the man with one count of conspiring to throw corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear at Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 5).

     Investigations by Organised Crime and Triad Bureau are proceeding.
