*************************************************

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, attended a live question-and-answer session on the Chief Executive's Office (CEO) Facebook page "Chief Executive's Office, HKSAR" today (December 2) to discuss with the public the health care system, food safety and environmental hygiene services.

The question-and-answer session was conducted live on the CEO Facebook page (ceo.gov.hk/fb) at 7pm. During the 50-minute session, Dr Chow addressed questions and suggestions from participants on the regulation of hawker stalls, ways to improve health care services, the issue of Mainland pregnant women giving birth in Hong Kong, manpower of medical staff, the voluntary Health Protection Scheme, food safety and environmental hygiene.

"I am glad to discuss these issues with our friends on the internet and thankful for the views expressed by them. There will be an upsurge in the demand for health care services. In order to meet the growing needs, we will continue to allocate resources to improve public health care services and provide a better living environment for the community," Dr Chow said.

For questions not answered during the session because of time constraints, the Food and Health Bureau will provide collective responses on the CEO Facebook page.

The new question-and-answer sessions aim to enrich the platforms for public engagement. Each time a current issue of public interest will be selected for discussion. Members of the public are welcome to ask questions and share their views and opinions, and the relevant departments will respond. The full version of each session will be uploaded to "Chief Executive's Office, HKSAR", the CEO's YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/CEOffice) and the CEO's Tudou channel (www.tudou.com/home/hkceo).
